organic products grown in a sustainable habitat

Organic production practices

Use of organic production techniques: the use of organic practices, ecological balance, sustainability, natural plant fertilization, natural pest management, soil integrity, minimum tillage, and avoidance of pesticides and herbicides use encourage suitable conditions for soil fauna and flora as well as soil forming, conditioning and nutrient cycling in our farms and farmers plantations.

Organic fertilization: We produce our own organic compost for soil fertilization. This practice saves on the use of artificial fertilizer, energy, and resources; while at the same time contributes to soil carbon sequestration.
Our composting not only improves soil conditions and the health of our plantations, it also reduces the carbon footprint of our entire operations. Natural Habitats Group collects waste from many farmers that would have otherwise been dumped resulting in the emission of greenhouse gases.
The compost produced and manufactured by Natural Habitats Group has been approved by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Agriculture, and certified by BCS.

Renewable energy: Use of fossil fuelled equipment is avoided as much as possible. Mules and oxen can do the work even better than tractors! Rainwater is captured and used for irrigation and sanitary systems.
