Natural Habitats has a new project in Makpele Chiefdom in the Southern District of Sierra Leone. As a member of RSPO, the company should undergo the New Planting Procedure, which has the following key steps:
- A comprehensive and participatory independent social and environmental impact assessment, including high conservation value areas identification.
- Development and implementation of appropriate management plans and operational procedures.
- Verification of the information by the external certification
- Public Notification on the RSPO website for 30 days.
At the moment, the project is at the final stage and New Planting Assessment is open for public comment. The comments can be submitted via the following email address nppcomments@rspo.org. The summary of the project, assessment reports, and management plans can be found on RSPO website.
