Ingredients:

  • Firm tofu 
  • Organic palm oil 
  • Cornstarch or tapioca flour 
  • Salt

  • Knife 
  • Cutting board 
  • Paper towels or a clean kitchen towel 
  • Bowl

  • Slotted spoon or spatula

Preparation Steps:

1. Draining and Pressing Tofu: 

  • Cut the tofu into slices or cubes. 
  • Lay out a kitchen towel or several layers of paper towels on a flat surface. 
  • Arrange the tofu on the towel in a single layer. 
  • Cover with another towel and place a cutting board on top. 
  • Put a heavy object on the board to press and drain for at least 30 minutes.

2. Coating the Tofu: 

  • In a bowl, mix cornstarch (or tapioca flour) with salt, pepper, and optional spices. 
  • Once the tofu is drained, toss the pieces in the dry mixture until evenly coated. 

3. Frying the Tofu: 

  • Heat a generous amount of organic palm oil in a frying pan over medium heat. 
  • Carefully add the coated tofu pieces to the oil. 
  • Fry until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking. 
  • Remove the tofu and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
