Palm Oil Education Platform Launches Sloth Campaign and Releases Impact Report
Boulder, Colo.— Natural Habitats, initiator of Palm Done Right which is a mission-based educational platform dedicated to supporting people, animals, and the environment by proving that palm oil can be grown for good, announced today the creation of a new Shop Smart, Save Sloths logo to help empower consumers to make ethical choices and highlight products that are wildlife friendly and deforestation-free.
Palm oil is found in half of consumer packaged goods in stores and online markets across the countries and can be found in cookies, nut butters, soap, cleaning supplies, skincare, candles, and more so consumers choosing sustainable palm can create a big impact. The logo aims to create a connection between consumers’ product choices and how those choices affect wildlife who take up home in the habitats where ingredients are sourced.
In conjunction with the unveiling of the new sloth-focused labeling, the team at Palm Done Right visited sloths in zoos including the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The team met sloths, learned more about their native habitats, and encouraged brand partners to do the same to create a visual impact of everyday shopping choices on the environment.
“One of the driving forces behind Palm Done Right is producing wildlife-friendly palm oil that protects the environment and promotes biodiversity. Through Shop Smart, Save Sloths we can continue to drive a connection between consumer accessibility and eco-friendly options across a variety of verticals including home goods, beauty products, skincare, food, and more,” said Monique van Wijnbergen, Sustainability and Corporate Communication Director at Natural Habitats. “Sloths represent just one of the many majestic native species of Ecuador, where we source palm fruit, and through this initiative we are encouraging consumers to make responsible choices that will protect the habitats of sloths and more.”
Palm Done Right is helping to create more awareness on how sustainable palm oil can contribute to animal habitats protection The campaign has been announced in conjunction with the release of Natural Habitat’s first impact report. Natural Habitats, through Palm Done Right, continues to educate consumers on the importance of choosing sustainable palm oil to protect species like sloths.
